Hello

My name is Tammy Jeanes. I am a Specialist Teacher and Assessor with a current Assessment and Practicing Certificate (APC). I gained my OCR Level 7 training to teach and assess learners with dyslexia or specific learning difficulties, with the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre in Farnham. I regularly attend face to face training events, take part in webinars and read about specific learning difficulties to ensure my skills are current.

My interest in dyslexia began almost fifteen years ago, whilst supporting my own family. As a parent I understand the challenges and concerns specific learning differences can create in school, and everyday tasks, and the positive impact specialist support can make.

I have worked in KS1, KS2 and KS3 environments. My passion and special interest quickly navigated towards supporting children with specific learning difficulties. I loved interventions and small group work. I strived to make each sessions fun, focusing on each learner’s key strengths as a means to support their weaknesses. I noticed the positive impact that specific support can make to a child’s confidence, self-esteem, outlook and academic success.

The world of specific learning differences was so enticing, I trained further to become a specialist teacher and then as a dyslexia assessor. I feel very privileged to be a dyslexia assessor and truly believe the assessment process should be positive and a step towards success for each learner.
